These easy homemade apple turnovers are made with flaky puff pastry and a warm, spiced apple filling—perfect for a quick and delicious dessert. Ready in just 30 minutes, they’re a crowd-pleaser with minimal effort! 🍏🥐✨

Ingredients

  • 5 apples, cored & chopped (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work best)
  • 1 cup white sugar (reduce for less sweetness)
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour (or cornstarch for GF option)
  • 1 tsp apple pie spice (DIY below)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 package puff pastry, thawed

DIY Apple Pie Spice:
Mix ½ tsp cinnamon, ¼ tsp nutmeg, ⅛ tsp allspice, and a dash of cloves or ginger.

Instructions

1️⃣ Make the Filling: In a bowl, mix apples, sugar, flour, spice, salt, vinegar, and lemon juice. Let sit for 30 minutes.
2️⃣ Preheat Oven to 375°F (190°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
3️⃣ Prepare Pastry: Roll out puff pastry and cut into 4-inch squares.
4️⃣ Fill & Fold: Place 1 tbsp apple filling in each square’s center. Fold diagonally into a triangle and crimp edges with a fork. Cut two small slits on top.
5️⃣ Bake: Arrange on sheets and bake for 12–15 minutes until golden brown.
6️⃣ Cool & Serve: Let cool slightly before serving.
